NMServer SNMP System Management Agents for:

NMServer is a family of Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Agents that allow IBM AS/400, HP VAX,  Alpha or Itanium, and Stratus VOS computer systems to be monitored and managed remotely by any standard SNMP Network Manager.

NMServer Agents monitor important performance and resource utilization criteria including processes running, disk utilization, system errors, queues, hardware and software problems, and CPU loading statistics. They report this and other MIB data to network manager when polled.

NMServer Agents check many operating aspects of the systems they are on, and send alerts (traps) for critical process stopped, disk nearly full, CPU overload, or any user defined event.

Features Include
Monitors System Information
Send User Data as Traps with Filtering
Monitors Resource Utilization
Monitors Mission Critical Processes
User Controlled Traps Instantly Alert You of System Problems
Remote Host Command Entry
Monitors System Errors
Traps Won't be Lost or Flood Your Network
Complete Package - MIBs, Installation Aids, Documentation, Support

NMServer Remote Console
Remote Console enables custom management of the managed host from an SNMP Manager. This powerful feature enables a SNMP Manager to be configured to automatically perform common system management tasks like freeing up disk space or starting processes in response to traps received from the NMServer software.

NMServer Traps
Since SNMP uses the connectionless UDP communication protocol, delivery of traps is not guaranteed. Traps generated by NMServer products contain sequence numbers which can be monitored by SNMP Managers. The SNMP Manager can detect lost traps and request that NMServer resend the trap.

The NMServer Agents contain throttles which govern how quickly traps can be sent across the network. This feature can be customized to ensure that NMServer traps do not flood the network.

What is SNMP?
SNMP is the acronym for Simple Network Management Protocol. SNMP is an Internet Standard Protocol which allows devices from different vendors to work with each other.

SNMP network management consists of two major components:
A Manager such as HP OpenView or Concord's Network Health, and an Agent running in each of the devices you wish to manage.

COMTEK NMServer™ Agents allow IBM AS/400, HP OpenVMS, and Stratus VOS systems to be included in SNMP Management Systems -- resulting in a more complete view of the network.

COMTEK Agents monitor applications (is a critical application down?), resources (how full are the disks and how busy are the CPUs?), and lets the Manager know instantly if a problem develops.

COMTEK products help turn your Network Management System into an Enterprise Management System.
